Step-by-Step to an Expert-Level Everyday Makeup Routine!!

 

As an expert makeup artist, I’m often asked about my everyday makeup routine. While my product choices and techniques might vary slightly depending on the day’s agenda or my mood, this is my tried-and-true routine that consistently delivers a flawless look.

1. Prep Your Skin

• Cleanser: 

Begin with a high-quality, gentle cleanser to remove any impurities and prep the skin.

• Toner: 

Follow up with a toner to balance the skin’s pH levels and tighten pores.

• Serum: 

Apply a serum tailored to your skin’s needs—whether it’s hydration, brightening, or anti-aging.

• Moisturizer: 

Use a hydrating moisturizer that suits your skin type to ensure a smooth application of makeup.

• Sunscreen: 

Never skip sunscreen. Opt for a broad-spectrum SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

• Primer: 

Apply a primer to create a flawless base. Choose one that addresses your skin concerns, such as mattifying for oily skin or illuminating for a radiant finish.

2. Foundation

• Choice of Foundation: Select a foundation that matches your skin tone and type. I prefer using a damp beauty sponge for a seamless, airbrushed finish. Build coverage gradually to avoid a cakey look.
• Concealer: Use a concealer one to two shades lighter than your foundation to brighten the under-eye area and cover any blemishes. Blend well with a brush or sponge to ensure a natural finish.
• Setting Powder: Lightly dust a translucent setting powder over the concealer to set it in place and prevent creasing.

3. Eyes

• Eyeshadow Base: Start with an eyeshadow primer to ensure your eyeshadow stays vibrant and crease-free all day.
• Eyeshadow: For an everyday look, I use a neutral palette. Apply a light shade across the lid, a medium shade in the crease for depth, and a darker shade at the outer corner for dimension.
• Eyeliner: Apply a thin line of eyeliner close to the upper lash line. For a more natural look, opt for a brown liner, or use black for more definition.

4. Brows

5. Cheeks

6. Lips

• Lipstick or Gloss: Choose a lipstick or gloss that suits your look. For a classic everyday look, a nude or soft pink is perfect. For a bolder statement, opt for a red or berry shade.

7. Finishing Touches

• Setting Powder: Apply a light dusting of setting powder to areas prone to oiliness, such as the T-zone, to keep your makeup in place.
• Setting Spray: Finish with a setting spray to lock in your makeup and ensure it stays put throughout the day. Hold the spray at arm’s length and mist your face in an “X” and “T” shape for even coverage.
